# supportTopicUpdate

> Null when no topic with this id exists in the store.

## Arguments

**id** `ID!` *required*

The id of the topic to update.

**input** `[SupportTopicUpdateInput!](/docs/api-reference/v3/reference/support/support-topic-update-input)` *required*

The changes to make.

**fields**

**description** `String`

What the topic covers.

**name** `String`

The topic's new name, at most 255 characters.

## Returns

**supportTopicUpdate** `[SupportTopic](/docs/api-reference/v3/reference/support/support-topic)`

A merchant-defined topic. The classifier assigns topics to new tickets, and rules can match on them.

**fields**

**description** `String!` *required*

What the topic covers. The classifier matches tickets against the name and this text.

**id** `ID!` *required*

The id of this topic.

**name** `String!` *required*

Topic name, unique within the store.
