# node

> Refetch any object by its globally unique ID. Returns null if no such object exists or the caller is not allowed to read it.

**Required scopes:** *None*

## Arguments

<ResponseField name="id" type="ID!" required>
  The globally unique ID of the object to refetch.
</ResponseField>

## Returns

<ResponseField name="node" type={<a href="/docs/api-reference/v3/reference/common/node">Node</a>}>
  An object that can be refetched by its globally-unique `id` through the `node` query.

  <Expandable title="fields" lazyRender>
    <ResponseField name="id" type="ID!" required>
      A globally-unique identifier. Treat it as an opaque handle: pass it back to the API (e.g. to `node(id:)`) to refetch this object, but don't parse it or build one yourself — its format is not part of the contract and may change.
    </ResponseField>
  </Expandable>
</ResponseField>
